Today, my boss and I had lunch at Boure, an Oxford staple located on The Square. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the restaurant’s spacious, beautifully designed interior and inviting atmosphere. The menu features a wide variety of Southern comfort favorites, including jambalaya, gumbo, banana pudding, and many other Cajun and American-inspired dishes.
For lunch, I ordered a bowl of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, which was priced at $12. The service was prompt, professional, and attentive, and our meals arrived quickly. My gumbo was incredibly flavorful, with generous portions of both chicken and sausage. Many restaurants tend to be conservative with their more expensive ingredients, but Boure certainly did not disappoint in that regard. I felt the portion size was appropriate for the price and left satisfied.
My boss ordered the Burger Bowl and thoroughly enjoyed it. His only criticism was that he felt the serving size was a bit small. Aside from that, he was very pleased with both the flavor and quality of the meal.
Overall, I would highly recommend Boure to anyone visiting or living in Oxford. It has the most spacious and thoughtfully designed dining area of any restaurant we’ve visited so far. The elevated interior, tasteful décor, and welcoming atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable. I also noticed the restaurant offers upstairs and balcony seating, features that are relatively uncommon among Oxford restaurants and add to its unique charm.
Another advantage is Boure’s prime location on The Square, placing it within walking distance of shopping, frozen yogurt, nightlife, and other local attractions. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch, dinner, or a place to begin or end an evening out, Boure is an excellent choice.
I definitely plan to return to try more items from their diverse menu. Their offerings successfully blend Southern, Cajun, and American cuisine while providing enough variety that there’s something for just about everyone. Between the excellent food, attentive service, inviting atmosphere, and convenient location, Boure has quickly become one of my favorite dining experiences in Oxford.
